Bringing "Galeotti's to North Carolina

Author: G /

Michael and Luke were generous to cook a giant meal for friends last night, during their visit to Wilmington. We have so many leftovers we don't know what to do!! The menu was simple, Zuppa Toscana and The Vultaggio pasta. Enough to fill us all up! It was delicious!

We have a new addition to the restaurant-- Riedel Wine Glasses for all you oenophiles! And we're constantly working hard to make sure the food only gets better.

Being new to the restaurant business, we're finding all sorts of new challenges. For example: Testing patron response to our recipes. We want to hear from you! Help us make Galeotti's the best it can be. Your word of mouth means a lot to our little Mom & Pop Shop, so please give us your feedback when you come in. And if something was "non e accettabile" let us know and then come back and try it again another day!

On another note, we got a great compliment from an older Italian couple who stopped by Galeotti's the other day. They came in for the first time and said they've traveled all over the world and the US and our Italian food was the most authentic they'd ever tasted in the states! Very exciting for us.

Another new addition is our pastry chef, Courtney Bannister! We're thrilled to have this talented lady working with us. She is so kind and friendly and a wonderful addition to our staff. Welcome, Courtney!

We Need Your Help!

Hi Battle Ground-ians!  We need your help!  One of the best problems a restaurant can have is to be so busy that the kitchen has trouble keeping up, and we are blessed enough to find ourselves in that boat.  Almost all of our dishes are made from scratch which adds additional work for our kitchen.

You can help by MAKING RESERVATIONS before you come so we can plan out our evenings with more certainty.  Of course, if you get a craving for Galeotti's but forgot to call ahead don't worry, you're always welcome to walk-in!

Thank you for making our little place so successful!  We love this town!

Monday night was PACKED!  How encouraging!  We're thrilled that so many people in the community have returned after our Grand Opening and so many new folks are giving it a try!  Here's some more pictures from Saturday...

GRAND OPENING

What a huge success! Thank you to everyone who came out to support us and our endeavor in Battle Ground. Friday was the ribbon cutting and meeting with the Chamber of Commerce crowd. They all seemed so excited to be there and the Mayor even gave us a Certificate of Recognition! WOW!

Saturday was INSANE! We had the air-conditioning turned all the way up but we were so packed that most everyone was sweating it out during the Enation and Everly accoustic sets! So much has changed in the last few weeks... the flower beds out front, new awings, some beautiful new paint on the walls and great decor (courtesy of decorateur, and Battle Ground local, Erin Sweatt), gorgeous floral arrangements from Eric & Marilyn Mosler at Main St. Floral company and a few more sent as gifts from good friends, new square dishware, quaint white coffee cups & saucers and so much more. The biggest changes are our new menu and the bathrooms, which I must boast-- are the best bathrooms in Battle Ground!

Getting back to the food, though, I'm so proud of our kitchen for working as hard as they did with the new recipes. We're still working out the kinks so some of you folks were waiting longer than we'd like for your meals, but everyone we spoke to was so patient and said the food was WELL worth the wait... YAY! Comments from customers were nothing but positive and we even entertained a 5-star gourmet chef, Scott Malcolm, who has been cooking for over 30 years and is a self-proclaimed "food snob". Scott had the Zupa Toscana, Prime Rib, Sauteed Greens and Cheesecake. He said the Zupa Toscana was delicious and unexpected and that our Painted Hills beef tasted like meat used to taste 50 years ago, when it was authentic and clean. He loved the greens, noting "these are cooked exactly the way I make them at home... which means their perfect." The cheesecake rendered him speechless, just a satisfied smile remained as his eyes sparkled... "Wow" he said. That's exactly what we wanted to hear.

Our incredible kitchen crew were busting their butts as were our Servers and after everything settled down the Galeotti's busted out a few bottles of wine, sat the staff down and enjoyed a nice relaxing drink over laughs, tears and storytelling about the craziest evening we've ever been a part of.

Thank you to EVERYONE who made this weekend possible. More pictures and updates to come, but in the meantime stop in and enjoy an unforgettable meal at Galeotti's.

Yes, Yes, she's the Mom!  Everyone is in shock when they find out "Mama" is older than 30!  But I think we can chok her incredible skin up to her keen ability to stay fit... but more about that later...

Sheila was a San Diego kid with Columbian heritage.  She grew up on an Avocado orchard and fell in love with fresh fruits and veggies early (which I'm sure she can credit for her health), and she met Mike when she was a teenager.  The story goes that she was trying to sell him on Amway, but they fell in love instead.  Their life since has been full of many adventures, from starting in San Diego to living in New York, then Beavercreek OR and now in Washington, Sheila has watched her 3 boys grow up with a wonder and a love for family.

Sheila is incredibly tenderhearted and has a great laugh.  Currently she works as an esthetician at Ashbrook Aesthetics in Orchards!  Her amazing skin and figure are no doubt the product of her Organic lifestyle.  She's something of a Medicine Woman for our family, always presenting us with bags of herbs and tonics and tincture's.  She has a Holistic remedy for almost everything and is a wealth of knowledge on the subject if you ever want to ask her a question. She may seem shy at first, but come say hi anyway.  She's full of wisdom and she loves people.

Ideas Anyone?

Well, our GRAND OPENING is coming up on July 25th!  We have lots planned for the opening including a wine tasting, free cappuccinos, special concert performances by Everly and surprise guests and raffle/auction prizes too!  But we still have a long ways to go before we've paved our way in this town.  We are so grateful for the website traffic from all over the world (thanks mostly in part to the loyal fans of One Tree Hill's Bethany Galeotti), but we still need our biggest fan base to be right here in wonderful Battle Ground, WA.

So, this post is for anyone with a creative bone in their body.  Post in the comments here with your ideas to help make "Galeotti's" a Battle Ground household name.  Give us your suggestions for how to economically spread the word about being a part of our family at 801 E. Main st.  Some advertising already in process is a cover story for local band ENATION in Vancouver family magazine in which Galeotti's is mentioned, and a centerfold in popular coupon mailer Family Values.

We can't wait to see what's inside those brilliant minds...

In case you weren't sure... by posting here you acknowledge that we are not legally obligated to you in any way should we decide to use your idea in any form.  We'd love to give you a shout out for it though :)

Lookin' for the heart of Saturday Night...

Saturday was hoppin!  Where did you all come from?  And where have you been!?  Well, it was a great busy weekend here at Galeotti's!  We've been super busy, too.  The Family had a family portrait photo shoot with local photographers Kathy Carlisle and Brian MacDonnell.  You can take a look at their blogs if you go to www.heavenseyephotography.com and www. bmac-photo.com.

Also, Mike & Sheila and Michael & Joy went down to BJ roasters in Vancouver, WA where were selected our house blend.  The roasters were kind enough to walk us through the coffee process.

More changes coming soon!
